Paul Bury was called to the Bar in 2008. Following a period of time working abroad in Brussels, Paul successfully completed his pupillage and became a tenant of Keating Chambers in September 2011.
Paul takes instructions on all aspects of domestic and commercial construction, energy, and regulatory law, and has been instructed on cases ranging from low value commercial claims in the County Courts through to being part of the counsel team in complex and high-value international arbitration and adjudication proceedings.
During pupillage Paul experienced a wide range of construction disputes and professional negligence claims typical of the work undertaken at Keating Chambers. He gained experience of litigation, arbitration, adjudication and mediation – both in the UK and internationally – and assisted in several trials and applications in the TCC and the Commercial Court. Paul also gained experience drafting pleadings in all forms of dispute resolution and has a good knowledge of the JCT, NEC and FIDIC standard form contracts.
Paul has represented clients in court on several occasions, including applications in the High Court, and numerous County Court hearings concerning a wide range of disputes relating both to construction and other matters. Paul has also advised on matters relating to environmental regulation (noise control) and drafted pleadings in claims issued in the County Court and the High Court.
Having previously worked for a leading international law firm in Brussels on complex regulatory issues involving leading international companies, Paul is adept at taking a commercial approach to legal issues and dispute resolution. Paul is also comfortable dealing with questions of EU law, and applying these to both domestic and international commercial situations.
