Keating Chambers has 49 members, including 19 QCs, specialising in all aspects of construction and engineering work. Members of Chambers have expertise in litigation, arbitration, adjudication and other forms of dispute resolution.
Barristers from Keating Chambers regularly advise clients during all stages of a project, including specialist advice on prospective contracts, valuable insights to help parties make the right decisions as the work proceeds, and advice, guidance and representation should a dispute arise at any stage.
By reason of their experience, members of Keating Chambers are familiar with all standard forms of building and engineering contracts used today in practice in the UK, and members of Keating Chambers are responsible for the popular clause by clause commentaries on the 2005 JCT suite of standard contracts, as well as the ICE Form of Contract commentary found in Keating on Building Contracts.
Keating Chambers are instructed to act for developers, main contractors, management contractors, sub-contractors, suppliers, local authorities, homeowners, the Government, architects, engineers, designers, surveyors, valuers and other consultants. Members have been involved for at least one party in many high profile construction or infrastructure projects in the UK. Recent instructions include the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, the M6 Toll Road , and Wembley Stadium. The broad spectrum of experience and seniority means that all cases from the smallest to the most complex can be accommodated.
Chambers also provides other ADR expertise. Adjudication has become a significant specialism in the last eight years, with members able to advise on claims at all stages. Some are also trained adjudicators. Several members of Chambers are experienced arbitrators and a number also act regularly as mediators.
…Solicitors continue to praise the excellent service they receive from the clerks, the “unsung heroes of the backroom,” and draw attention to the “vast array of clever people” who cater for the full spectrum of domestic and international construction disputes….
