Members of Keating Chambers are frequently consulted on all
aspects of marine-related construction and engineering contracts.
These can range from the construction of flood defences (as in
Harbour and General Works v The Environment
Agency) to sub-sea installation (as in DSND Subsea v Petroleum Geo-Services).
Dredging is a central element in many marine-related projects
and many of our members have substantial experience of the issues
leading to disputes, whether geo-technical, mechanical or purely
commercial. Our expertise is such that we have even provided all
the counsel in a dredging dispute, representing the main
contractors and sub-contractors respectively in Costain Civil Engineering v Zanen Dredging.
Not all advice on dredging disputes relates to full litigation.
Many disputes are heard privately in arbitration, in both the UK
and overseas. Others are resolved through mediation and other ADR
techniques, and Keating Chambers has a number of qualified
mediators and adjudicators who are able to assist.
The highly specialised nature of the dredging industry means
that the best advice can be obtained only from lawyers with the
necessary specialist knowledge. Keating Chambers is recognised as
one of few sources of genuine expertise in this particular area of
law.
